A couple days of separating parts, deburring the edges, and other initial tasks for the fuselage. A few of the parts completed so far are below (longer j-stiffeners not shown):
Horizontal stability attachment bars straightened (using rubber mallet and a vise) and deburred:
Horizontal Stability attach bar support angle below - this had to be fabricated from angle aluminum (only the holes were completed by Van's). Lots of measuring and cutting with the band saw, with final polishing using the scotchbrite wheels:
The Rudder stops (two pieces in front of the support angle) also started from a single piece of angle aluminum, and required some very careful fabricating. Not too bad, but not perfect:
